Overview
Workplace exposure to asbestos is a well-known source of considerable risk to the health of workers. Yet, asbestos remains ubiquitous thanks to its use in myriad applications - from building materials to insulation, to anti-abrasive use. This poses reputational and financial liabilities for corporations in today’s globally integrated business environment.
Our risk-based approach to the management of asbestos containing material (ACM) and to the assessment, control and mitigation of risks that they pose allow you to take actions that protect workers and the community from harm, while also avoiding undue liabilities and reputational risks for the corporations.
Asbestos Management: Our offerings
Visual Asbestos Surveys
As a foundational step to asbestos management, your site is inspected by a highly trained, accredited surveyor. The surveyor helps ascertain the presence and extent of ACM, and identifies the potential health risks that may result from these. Our surveys follow internationally accepted standards and methodologies, and generate Asbestos Survey Reports that facilitate the management of ACMs and associated liabilities.
Sampling and analysis of suspected ACM
Where required, we collect representative samples of suspected ACM, settled dust and workplace air (background and personal samples) and get these analysed by accredited international laboratories in accordance with internationally accepted standards. The analysis results allow us to ascertain the presence, type and concentration of asbestos and thus, better assess the risks posed by each of the ACMs identified at a facility. Our scientific method of identifying the matrices and materials to sample facilitates the highest returns on the finances and time invested in sample collection and analysis.
Asbestos risk assessments and risk registers
Based on data from the Visual Asbestos Survey and the ACM Sampling & Analysis (if required), we assess the risks posed by the various ACMs to your workers, and identify actionable control measures that can significantly mitigate such risks. This information is then presented as part of the Asbestos Risk Register.
Asbestos management plans
We support you in developing bespoke short-, medium- and long-term asbestos management plans that use a risk-based approach to efficient and effective management of asbestos. Our Asbestos Management Plans aim to balance operational aspects and business requirements.
Asbestos abatement
We provide turnkey solutions that include the development and implementation of bespoke, site-specific asbestos abatement plans. Our asbestos abatement work meets regulatory requirements, corporate standards and procedures, and internationally accepted best practices.
Workzone decontamination
In situations where asbestos fibers have been accidentally released into workplaces, we provide turnkey asbestos decontamination and clean-up services to render the impacted workplace safe for use, and to mitigate occupational exposure risks and attendant liabilities.
Management of supply chain risks and product safety liabilities
We provide product safety screenings to check for the presence of asbestos in products and components sourced by you. We also work with you to assess the robustness of your suppliers’ management systems, and where required, work with key suppliers to further reduce asbestos-related risks that may emanate from the global supply chain.
